Project Zambi-CLOSED
Nov 06
Project Zambi was established by Hasbro and supports organizations that benefit AIDS orphans in Africa. It came about after Hasbro’s visits to Zambia, a group of employees came up with the idea for the campaign and product to help raise funds and awareness of the needs of these orphaned children. There are many stars getting involved in this benefit:
Jaden and Willow Smith, George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio, Alicia Keys, Taylor Swift, Jessica Biel, Glenn Close, Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi, Joely Fisher, Brad Garrett, Jennie Garth, Peter Facinelli, Hugh Jackman, Scarlett Johansson, Jonas Brothers, Heidi Klum, Kathy Najimy, Rhea Perlman, Danny DeVito, Graham Rahal, Susan Sarandon, Brooke Shields, James Taylor, Barbara Walters, Denzel Washington and Naomi Watts.
The toy they have created for this fund is Zambi The Baby Elephant, which is a special edition of FurReal Friends by Hasbro. It is recommended for ages 4 and up, sells for $49.99, and is available in Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Spain, United Kingdom and the US. Zambi has soft, cuddly ears and feet that are covered in a special fabric pattern created by the boys and girls from one of the African communities. Hasbro is donating 50% of the net profits of the sales of Zambi, with a minimum of $500,00 to the Project Zambi Fund!
Zambi is very adorable! He even comes with a fabric bracelet for you to wear, with the same artwork on it as on Zambi’s ears and feet. His back legs are poseable, so you can make him stand or sit. He does all kinds of neat little things:
- Blows kisses

- Curl his trunk around your finger
- Wiggles his ears
- Moves his trunk
- Makes trumpeting, sighing and eating sounds
- Giggles
He needs 4 AA batteries, which comes with him at purchase and he goes into daydream mode if you stop playing with him for about a minute. To wake him up, just press his back. You can wash him with a damp cloth. You can get him at Wal-Mart, Kmart, Toys R Us, and online at Amazon or Hasbro. If you want to see all the fun things he does, watch the video at the bottom of the page.
My Opinion:
I think this is a good cause and Zambi is very appropriate. He is absolutely adorable and you won’t be able to keep your hands off him! It is so fun to play with. His ‘fur’ is soft and even has an elephant’s skin pattern to it. The artwork is cute also and is really noticeable with the bright pink fabric. This would make an excellent Christmas gift or gift for anytime of the year and he’s not just for children either.
