Tropical Traditions Shredded Coconut-CLOSED

Oct 29

Not long ago I did a review for Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil. They have given me a chance to review another of their products, 100% natural Organic Dried Coconut. It comes in three different sizes:

  • Shredded–very small cut, great for baking [this is what I received]
  • Flakes–larger cut, great for garnishes or toppings
  • Chips–much larger cut, great for snacks, like trail mix, etc.

Their coconut is grown WITHOUT any fertilizers or pesticides and has NO additives or preservatives and is NOT sweetened, or treated with sulfites (to keep it white). You can find recipes on the Free Coconut Recipes Blog, or submit some of your own. New recipes are added all the time.

My Opinion:
We like coconut around here but didn’t buy it much from the store because it is expensive and loaded with sugar. It dries out super fast too. We sure had fun sampling this shredded coconut! It comes in a gallon pail, so it will last a while, hopefully. We have been using it daily. We have tried it on:

  • ice cream–oh my goodness, this is so good, even better than chocolate fudge!
  • cold cereal–I had to try it to see how it would taste in my raisin bran, and again, excellent.
  • with milk–it said on the pail that it could be added to milk and put in the blender to make coconut milk, so I tried that too, very different and yes, good.
  • while baking–I recently baked some sweet potato bread and added it, very delicious.
  • pancakes–all I can say is yummy!

So you can see we have been enjoying it in just about everything. There is another recipe I might try for Halloween. There seems to be endless ways to use the shredded coconut. I haven’t used it in any meat dishes but I bet it would taste good with chicken. I keep it on our counter with a handy little scoop so we can use it frequently. Even though it isn’t sweetened, I believe it tastes better than the kind you buy at the store. I can’t express enough how much we like this! You definitely have to try it. The only negative thing I can say is the lid does not close after opening it initially.

‘Tropical Traditions provided me with a free sample of this product to review, and I was under no obligation to review it if I so chose. Nor was I under any obligation to write a positive review or sponsor a product giveaway in return for the free product. This is my honest opinion only’
