Summary:
Encounter Christ on every continent and in every century of Christian History. A new genre of Bible—a weekly meditation Bible—Holy Bible: Mosaic is an invitation to experience Christ both in His word and in the responses of his people. Each week, as you reflect on guided Scripture readings aligned with the church seasons, you will receive a wealth of insight from historical and contemporary writings. Full-color artwork will engage the soul; quotes, hymns, prayers, and poems enhance the rich devotional experience. Also includes a Dictionary/Concordance, NLT word study system with Hebrew/ Greek dictionary. A beautiful layout of art and devotional content, and an online community and content will extend the experience.
My Opinion:
I’ve never tried the NLT (New Living Translation) version of a Bible before, but after reading this, I like it. I like how it’s set up weekly and that you can go online to discuss with others about the theme for that week. It makes it very easy and interesting-like an online classroom. It is set up different than any Bible you’ve read before:
At the beginning is a User’s Guide, which describes how to use this Bible-Liturgically Thematically, Organically, and your own way. In the front of the book are Weekly Meditations from various churches throughout the globe, that centers around a specific theme for that week. It includes:
Scripture
- 5 Scripture readings, 4 of which are used by different Christian traditions around the world and follow the church seasons, which reading from the Gospels, Psalms, Old Testament and New Testament. The 5th reading is chosen to complement the weekly theme.
Historical & Global Contributions
- Full color artwork, church history, quotes and more are gathered from different continents and century of Christian history.
Meditations
- Each weeks theme connects it to the modern world
Whitespace
- This is used for note taking
The photos, artwork and maps are nice to look at and use in reference to the text. There is plenty of room for notes, making references, etc. It is hardcover, (it also comes in a leather like version) so the pages all lay down nicely and it’s easy to hold onto. I have small hands and some Bibles are too awkward to use because they are so big.
So, it’s easy to read and understand, it’s divided into weekly study and you get to use an online forum to discuss each weeks topics. Two thumbs up from me!
